I found myself scrambling the day before move-in, trying to secure an enclosed trailer to transport my car as bad weather was approaching. Thankfully, Keith Kortun, the manager of Motorama, recommended TFX International—and they did an excellent job.
Move-in day was hectic. It took over an hour just to get into the building, but once inside, everything ran smoothly. Within about two hours, I had everything set up and my car staged. The atmosphere was lighthearted and friendly, with people helping each other out—you could feel the excitement in the air.
Day one was filled with anticipation. When the doors opened, a flood of high school students rushed in, eager to see the beautiful cars. They were full of questions and excitement, and that energy carried on throughout the day. I met many participants, made new friends, and learned more about the passion behind classic and custom vehicles.
Day two was absolute mayhem. A tsunami of people arrived—so many that police had to shut down the parking lot and redirect traffic. You couldn’t see the end of the lineup on Airport Road in either direction. I was fortunate enough to meet Mike Hall from Rust Valley Restorers and Dave Kindig from Bitchin’ Rides. Both were incredibly friendly, despite being very busy.
It was a long day, starting at 8 a.m. for participants and wrapping up around 9 p.m., but it flew by as I spent more time connecting with fellow enthusiasts. Saturday was also awards day, and I was honoured to take first place in my category—Custom Semi Hardtop. My friends Joe Bevacqua and Charlie Siggia also took first place in their respective categories.
The final day had a slower pace than Saturday but was still quite busy. By 5 p.m., I began packing up, and by 6 p.m., my car was safely loaded into the trailer and I was on the road heading home. Thanks to Keith Kortun and his well-organized team, exiting the building was quick and easy.
Overall, it was an incredible experience, and I couldn’t be happier. A heartfelt thank you to all my family and friends who came out to support me—it truly meant a lot.
