Meet Gord Calleja's Mr. Sandman...
Gord has been a member of MSC for approximately 8 years now. Ever since he was a little boy, the 55 BelAir has always been his dream car. Initially, Gord and his brother were going to rebuild this car together. Sadly, Gord’s brother passed away so he never got to share this experience with him. The car sat in pieces for several years until Gord decided to start the project on his own. From scratch to finish, it took Gord 7 years to put Mr. Sandman together. This is the first summer on the road for this beautiful, modified 55 BelAir.
While Gord also owns (and rebuilt) a 1935 Ford Pick Up, he is most proud of the 55 BelAir. He named the car after the iconic 50’s song because it is his dream come true!
"Mr. Sandman" (sometimes rendered as "Mister Sandman") is a popular song written by Pat Ballard which was published in 1954 and first recorded in May of that year by Vaughn Monroe & His Orchestra and later that same year by The Chordettes and The Four Aces.”
